The Jamaican High Commission processes requests for temporary travel documents called Emergency Certificates (ECs). An Emergency Certificate is a one way travel document that permits a Jamaican national without a valid passport to enter Jamaica for emergency reasons.


REQUIREMENTS

 

Adults:


  • Completed Passport Application Form.
  • Expired Passport.
  • Original Birth Certificate
  • Government issued photo identification, if the passport has been lost/stolen.
  • Police Report (mandatory) for lost/stolen passports.
  • Two (2) passport sized colour photographs.
  • Travel itinerary.

Minors:


  • Completed Passport Application Form.
  • Expired Passport or Birth Certificate and a government issued photo identification, if the passport has been lost/stolen.
  • Parent(s) government issued photo identification.
  • Police Report (mandatory) for lost/stolen passports.
  • Two (2) passport size colour photographs.
  • Travel itinerary.

 

Cost:

  • Fee of $103.00 payable in cash, bank draft or money order (Do not send cash in the mail).
  • There is an additional fee of $13.00 for postage, if this service is required or the client may send a pre-paid return envelope.

 

Processing Time

In-person

  • Please allow three (3) business days starting from the submission date of the application in-person to the Jamaican High Commission.


Mail- in

  •  Please allow ten (10) business days for processing for applications submitted through the mail.  For mail-in, the expired Passport must be submitted along with the application.
